Samira Muhammad Al-Kandari, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for the Environment, awarded the Special Achievement Award in Geographic Information Systems for the year 2023, from Azri, the global leader in the field of geographic information systems, by evaluating various projects with various evaluation criteria such as innovation, practical application, sustainability, and positive impact on society and the environment.

The best entities were chosen from among more than 100,000 entities worldwide in order to be honored in this field. On this basis, the Waste Management Information System (EMESC West) was selected as part of a project to survey and prepare a comprehensive database for waste management in the State of Kuwait, which was implemented by the Authority over a period of 4 years by Waste Management. The system also helps the Environment Public Authority to improve the efficiency of waste management operations and take sound decisions regarding planning and development in this field. The 17 electronic applications are one of the outputs of this project.
